Baseball State Semifinals

Class AA: Hauppauge (XI) 4, Victor 3 (8 Innings)

Kyle Magill hit a walk-off winner for Hauppague, ending Victor’s season in eight innings.

Trailing 2-0 entering the sixth inning, Victor rallied to take the lead. Nick Kriegelstein scored Zach Worrall from second to make it 2-1. Later in the inning, John Schwartz hit a two-out, two-run double to the wall in right to give Victor a 3-2 lead.

However, Hauppauge would answer in the sixth as Magill tied the game with an RBI single.

Neither team would score in the 7th inning, taking the game to extras. With two outs in the bottom of the 8th, Magill hit a two-out single to right to give his team a 4-3 victory.

Victor’s season ends with a 20-6 record.

Class A: Kings Park 7 (XI), Pittsford Sutherland 0

Sutherland could not get the bats going on Friday night, as they were kept off the scoreboard in a loss in the state semifinals.

Kings Park tallied a run in the first inning and scored a pair in the third to make it 3-0. Four more runs in the fourth inning put the game out of reach.

The Knights end their season with an 18-7 record.

Class AAA: Fairport vs. Commack (XI)

Thanks to two weather delays on Friday and a 10-inning game that preceded it, Fairport and Commack got underway at 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. The game was scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

At time of publication, Fairport was cruising with a 7-1 lead in the fifth inning. Fairport scored two in the first inning, then Sam Miller hit a three-run triple in the second inning to make it 5-1.

Will Stanek and Patrick Lindquist each hit RBIs in the fourth inning to make it 7-1.

The winner of the late-night bout will take on Ketcham (I) in the Class AAA state championship game, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Class D: Arkport/Canaseraga 6, Chapel Field (IX) 1

Jacob Bacon hit a two-run triple in the third to lift Arkport/Canaseraga to the state championship game.

The Wolves got a run in the first inning, the second, three runs in the third, and a run in the fourth to give A/C a 6-0 lead. Chapel Field scored a run in the sixth inning, but it was too little, too late.

Arkport/Canaseraga will face Oriskany (III) in the title game at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Binghamton University.

Class C: Burke Catholic (IX) 8, Bolivar-Richburg 1

Trailing 2-0, Kingston Loucks hit an RBI single to get the Wolverines on the board. But that was the only run that they scored as B-R fell in the state semifinals.

Burke Catholic scored a pair of runs in the fourth inning to give themselves some breathing room.

Bolivar-Richburg’s season ends with a 25-2 record.
