North Main Street Bridge Project Update: New Completion Date Targeted

For residents and business owners tracking the Thomas Creek Bridge replacement, there is a significant update on the timeline. The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) project on North Main Street has a new anticipated completion date.

This is an important development for everyone navigating the village, as the work impacts traffic and access in the heart of Fairport.

The Latest Progress and Timeline

According to the Village of Fairport, the project’s new, anticipated date for substantial completion is November 15th, 2025.

It is noted that some work will likely continue past that date to fully close out the project.

 Current Construction Status

Crews are accelerating their work to meet this new target. Recent progress includes:

• Bridge supports are now in place.
• Work on the bridge decking is moving forward.

Once the work is finished, the Village of Fairport has mentioned it is “looking forward to a celebration” of the project’s completion and the full reopening of the Main Street corridor.

Official Detour Route

North Main Street remains closed to traffic from Railroad Street to the North Main Street and Cannery Parking areas.

The official, posted detour route directs vehicles along:

• East Church Street

Despite the main closure, the following areas remain accessible:

• Railroad Street remains open.
• The North Main Street and Cannery Parking areas are open.
• Pedestrian access is maintained on the east side of Main Street.
