Fairport, Thomas hockey end regular season on high note

Fairport cruised to their fourth straight win as they ended the regular season above .500.

Less than three minutes into the 2nd period, Ryan Alexander scored off an assist from AJ Nelson to give the Red Raiders a quick 1-0 lead. Axel Black added a goal of his own with 17.8 seconds remaining in the period to increase the lead to 2.

Early in the third period, off an another assist from Nelson, Alexander scored again to make it 3-0. Fairport forward Max Toscano added two goals for insurance in the final frame as well.

Fairport ends the regular season with a 10-9 record while Brighton/HF-L finishes at 5-15.

Thomas 2, Hilton 0

Titans goaltender Michael Nappi tallied his second shutout of the season to take down the Cadets. Thomas fell 4-1 to Hilton in their season opener.

Early in the first period, Nathan Scheirer scored a power-play goal to break the scoreless tie. In the second period, Cam Hall scored his team-high 11th goal to make it a 2-0 game.

Thomas heads into sectional play with a 11-8-1 record while Hilton sports a 14-6 record.
